An Ickle Story

Who am I?

I am Laura and I am a lucky mummy to two beautiful young children; Lily and Harry.  Since my son was born in 2014 my whole outlook and vision for my career and future completely changed. I worked in a variety of sectors but nothing felt right for me. I love watching my children play, seeing them grow and develop their own little personalities.

Why I have created Ickle Village

My children’s imagination and creativity inspired me to create a business that will further develop their minds as well as the minds of other young children.  It is important in the early years to expand young minds; to give them the foundation that will shape them to become the people we hope they will become one day. Ickle Village provides the opportunity to explore the adult world through ickle eyes.

Why is role play important to children?

For children, role play is essentially learning through play. Not only is it a fun and ‘playful’ activity it  is also a key component of a child’s learning. Learning through play has long been recognised as an important component of child development.  Role play is an active, social activity and children use role play to reflect on and develop their knowledge of a topic. Role play helps to develop a child’s communication, language and listening skills and their social skills as they learn to play together.

You can find more about how role play can benefit your child at Kallikids.
